“Attractions to Pittsburgh”
The first thing that attracted me to the city was obviously the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and then after I came to visit the school I fell in love with the city. Back where I live we do not have art galleries, museums, theaters, ballet or anything that is accessible without driving. In my town you have to drive to get anywhere, even down to the grocery store. So that also catch my eye, I would rather walk to my destination than drive to it, this sounds weird to most people but I have a terrible fear of driving so this was actually a plus for me. The culture that the city offers is exactly what I was looking for, I have always felt out of place where I live because I love art and I like going to art galleries and museums. Where I’m from your considered weird if you do not go to the local fairs truck and tractor pulls. I have heard good things about the city from family friends that have lived here; they actually talked my dad into letting me live here.
Basically though Pittsburgh is my stepping stone to New York, I could have gone to New York right off the bat but I felt as if I would have been in a culture shock compared to the small town that I came from. I researched Pittsburgh and came to visit it several times and I really liked the people and the area. Some people told me that the city was boring and that there was nothing to do, but i discovered that yes downtown itself is really boring but if you go outside of downtown to Southside, the strip district, waterfront or many of the other little sub parts of Pittsburgh you can find many interesting things to do. There were a lot of factors that attracted me to Pittsburgh, and i do not regret moving here I love this city and it will always be my home.
